Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 18, 2026

Nest Pest Control ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our site or services, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following specific categories of personal information when you use our website and services:

  • Identity & contact data: name, email address, phone number, and (if you create an account) a hashed password.
  • Address data: service address(es), including street, unit, city, state, and ZIP code, plus an optional label (e.g., "Home," "Rental").
  • Service request data: pest descriptions, urgency, property square footage, preferred start dates, and the status, history, and outcome of each request.
  • Photos: images you upload through "Snap a Pest" or other forms, which may incidentally include views of your property or surroundings.
  • Payment data: processed by Stripe. We receive a transaction reference and the last four digits / card brand for receipts; we do not store full card numbers, CVCs, or bank credentials on our servers.
  • Communication preferences: your choices for email and SMS notifications, and timestamps recording when you accepted our terms or gave SMS consent.
  • Account & role metadata: account creation and update timestamps, and (for staff) administrator role assignments.
  • Email delivery records: logs of transactional emails we send to you (template, recipient, delivery status) and any unsubscribe / suppression entries you trigger.
  • Waitlist data (if you opt in): name, email, ZIP, optional city and notes.
  • Technical data: minimal data needed to operate the site (e.g., IP address and basic request logs from our hosting provider for security and reliability). We do not run third-party analytics or marketing trackers on this site by default; if we ever do, you'll be asked via the cookie banner.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To schedule, perform, and follow up on pest control services.
  • To process payments and send booking confirmations and receipts.
  • To respond to inquiries and provide customer support.
  • To send service-related notifications (e.g., appointment reminders).
  • To improve our services, website, and customer experience.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including pest control recordkeeping required by North Carolina regulations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate our business — including payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, hosting, and infrastructure providers.
  • Our certified technicians who need address and service details to perform the work.
  • Authorities when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.

4. Photos You Submit

Photos uploaded through "Snap a Pest" or other forms are used to identify pest issues and prepare for service. We may retain them as part of your service record. We will not publish identifiable photos of your property for marketing or promotional purposes without your prior permission. Please avoid including images of other people, license plates, or sensitive information.

4a. Calls, Texts & SMS Consent

When you provide your phone number, you agree that we may contact you by call or text about your account, appointments, service updates, and related transactional messages. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You can opt out of marketing texts at any time by replying STOP to any message; reply HELP for help. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service-related communications (such as appointment confirmations). We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing.

5. Data Retention

We retain customer records, service history, and related photos for as long as needed to provide services, comply with regulatory recordkeeping requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, subject to legal retention obligations.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information (for example, under the GDPR if you are in the EU/UK, or under the CCPA/CPRA if you are a California resident). You can exercise these rights directly from your account:

  • Access & portability: Download a JSON export of your data from Account → Delete account.
  • Erasure / right to delete: Permanently delete your account from the same page. Past service requests are anonymized rather than erased so we can comply with tax and pest-control recordkeeping rules.
  • Update: Edit your profile, addresses, and notification preferences from your account settings.
  • Marketing opt-out: Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or reply STOP to any marketing text.
  • Cookies: Manage analytics and marketing cookie categories via our cookie banner.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you have questions or wish to exercise a right not covered above, email us at legal@nestpestcontrol.net or contact us through our contact page.

8. Your California Privacy Choices

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know: what personal information we collect, the sources we collect it from, the purposes we use it for, and any third parties we share it with.
  • Right to access & portability: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. You can self-serve a JSON export from Account → Delete account.
  • Right to delete: request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal recordkeeping exceptions.
  • Right to correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information from your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: we do not use sensitive PI for purposes beyond providing service.
  • Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised a privacy right.

We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not sell or share personal information, no opt-out is required — but if you want to confirm or update your privacy preferences, manage analytics and marketing categories via our cookie banner, email us at legal@nestpestcontrol.net, or contact us through our contact page with the subject "California privacy request." We respond to verifiable requests within 45 days.

You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will require written proof of the agent's authority and may verify your identity directly before fulfilling the request.

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.

11. Photo Metadata (EXIF)

Photos taken on a phone usually contain EXIF metadata, including the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken, your device model, and timestamps. When you upload a photo through Snap-a-Pest, our app re-encodes the image before storing it, which removes that metadata. Only the visual image is retained.
